UNICEF Project: Coffee And Music For Nepal

This was a project formed by me and my mother to help raise money for the children of Nepal through our love of delicious beverages and live music. We currently raise on average, £70 a day for each live session.

Why Nepal?

A huge 7.8 magnitude earthquake hit Nepal on 25 April 2015, toppling buildings, and destroying roads and infrastructure. Over 8,000 deaths have been reported and nearly 50,000 injured. Thousands of children are in danger, and many are at risk of human trafficking or have already been trafficked to India. Nepal is a very poor country, and so the situation will not resolve internally. Therefore, we believe that international assistance from governments, businesses, NGOs, and even ordinary people like us, will do a world of good.

Why Unicef?

UNICEF is a charity set up by the United Nations which ensures more of the world’s children are fed, vaccinated, educated and protected than any other organisation. UNICEF work in over 190 countries around the world. The charity has done more to influence laws, policies and customs to help protect children than anyone else in history. Currently, Unicef is on the ground in Nepal delivering clean water and other life-saving emergency supplies to children and their families. For more info: http://www.unicef.org.uk/UNICEFs-Work/

We offer free all-day live music (from professional/semi-professional musicians) to venues such as cafés/restaurants/pubs. Our only ask is that we leave a Unicef bucket for voluntary donations.

The general response from café-goers/customers have been highly positive. As a result, we have helped venues develop their ethical brand status, building a strong rapport with customers and the local community. Coffee And Music For Nepal hopes to help venues earn a respectable reputation, adding value to your brand and relationship with customers through charity. Please email Ash on ashchetri@icloud.com, if you and your business are interested in forming a short term/long term partnership with us.
